“Tower”

Over generations, ceramics, like all materials, have developed ‘rules’ of making, that utilize the characteristics and limitations of the material. So, what happens when you break those rules?

I focused on constructional approaches for ceramics that are unconventional, unexpected and unlikely. By challenging the material with ‘wrong’ joining methods, e.g. nails, bolts, screws, etc.

The aim is to jolt and ask the viewer to question their own understanding of order and encourage conversations around the subjects of materiality and craft artifacts.
